A few months ago I was walking my dog when we witnessed a car accident. It was loud, complete with squealing brakes, metal crunching and the impact. Ever since then, my dog gets tense around approaching cars. Sometimes she won't even leave the front of our house. What can I do to help her get over this traumatic experience?

noise desensitzation.....used to help dogs who hate loud noises eg fireworks etc, you can get a cd and dvd to explain how to use it, vets usually have details...ask your vet,or internet search.
How it works: play cd or dvd in the background where your dog is, put it on a low volume 1st. then over time you increase the volume, eventually, your dog gets used to noises and sounds.
Also get in touch with a local dog trainer.

I hadn't considered accident nerve-racking reports. i could basically considered the disciplines that various human beings use, extremely incorrectly, which traumatizes the canine. An unintended experience, like the only suggested above, even nevertheless - particular.

I would start taking her on a busy street each time I walk her to get her used to the noise and motion of cars again.
