I used to hang out with some space scientists, they followed the dead and definitely believed in a higher power.
I am thinking you are referring to a different kind of space scientist though. They are almost all Atheists or Agnostics.
Science and Religion have a way of butting heads.

I have a friend who is an astrophysicist I don't know exactly what you do with a title like that but I do know it has to do with space. She has been in school for the better part of 2 decades studying space and she is the most spiritually confused person I've ever known. She believes so deeply in science but she knows there's so much mystery in the universe, so she's constantly searching for answers and she's the first to admit she doesn't know what the question is

fairly the can of worms there. 2 issues. 1st Christians see this international as temporal. it is going to end. it is going to burn, It has fallen, that's corrupted. What people do or do no longer bear in mind approximately us, concerns no longer. beneficial some would evaluate being a superb seeing author to be an honor. yet in a Christian’s view, having infants who save on with in our footsteps to serve our God is as extreme because it may get. this is, in our view, eternal. each thing else will bypass away. bear in mind some years in the past, the Murphy Brown, Dan Quell themes? the place he made a dedicate approximately her tutor have been she became a unwed mom. a chum on the time, reported, he in ordinary terms wanted he became as common as she. I advised her precise there, that the day would come that she would be forgotten, yet being vice president Quell would be bear in mind some distance into the destiny. that's comparable. No the 2nd situation of education would greater healthful this, Paul 2000 years in the past made this clean For the message of the go is foolishness to those who're perishing, yet to us who're being stored that's the ability of God. For that's written: "i will wreck the expertise of the smart; the intelligence of the smart i will frustrate." the place is the smart guy? the place is the student? the place is the fact seeker of this age? Has no longer God made silly the expertise of the international? BTW, Our pastor retired from the Houston area midsection, he's a Mathematician, and became a rocket scientist.

I read something on this recently. I have two names in particular: Paul Davies and Frederick Hoyle. Can't remember which one was involved in astronomy; they're both widely respected scientists who have seen the order of the universe and concluded that there has to be a creator. Suggested reading for those of you out there who haven't even finished high school and think you're really smart and worldly.

Pondering the imponderable -- the vastness of space, the intricacy of the atom, the age of the Earth -- opens you the new ideas. How many people even have a sense of the size of the Earth?

Biologists are almost ALL atheists, as they can see the facts about evolution and DNA.
Lots of physics & astronomy is theoretical and doesn't have many concrete facts (as some things are so complicated/bizarre), so people are more free to interprete the ideas in a way which they believe (e.g. either proving/disproving God)

I work for an observatory, and deal with Astronomers daily.
The majority are atheist. Some are deist.
I think what causes this is the UNIMAGINABLE scale and grandeur of the universe. once you get a glimpse of how absurdly large the universe is you realize that you, your species, your planet, and even your galaxy is a speck of dust.

From a "mature view" your question isn't making sense... everybody reacts to everything according to their psychological ability, knowledge, beliefs etc. Having snuffled around NASA for awhile, it's as diverse there, in beliefs and philosophies, as any other place...

the same could be said for most people; either they become theists, or not. It's just that the smart ones can potentially do better in (most) organisations therefore the religious head thing ;)
