-(cont)cold washcloth to chew nothing seems to be working any other methods?

The cool teethers are good and the cold wash cloth works too. When mine were babies I used large ice cold carrots. I used ones large enough that they can't bite or break any pieces off, and I would hold it for them so all they do is chew on it with their gums. It seems to help with the teething and keeps their interest with the taste. Mine really enjoyed them and still love carrots today and they are grown. Just don't leave the baby alone with it or let them hold it, so there is no possibility of choking. Hope this helps!

additional info: I always used "fresh, raw, cleaned, carrots." My kids laugh at me because they were breast fed but for teething I would do carrots and cleaned (no meat or cartilage or small bone left) ice cold chicken leg bones too. I am always afraid to offer this advice, so please be careful and not leave the baby unattended or let him hold either so there won't be any chance of the child choking. Good luck!

I don't take the credit for the chicken bone, my son was 16 mos older than his little sister, he gave her the first one which she loved, so after that we used it as a teether also, whenever we had fried chicken.

To be honest it is something we all went through. I have 2 kids and one seemed to go through it relatively fine and the other had a bad time of it. I tend to avoid giving tylenol and other "drugs" to beings that are so small. Mind you if there is a fever then give it to them. In the end massaging the area seems to work best. Let them chew on your clean finger or anything else they want. If it is really bothering them then try to get their mind of it by playing, movement, t.v., singing... basically whatever works.

teething is natural. I know that does not help you but it is true. Don't use Orajel, it is not a good product. Cool teethers will probably do as much as anything to help. Ask your pediatrician if they want you to give children's tylenol.

my mom tells me that she used to give me frozen carrots - just like the above poster said. when they thaw they get rubbery. Seems to me they'd be cold to hold for little hands, but she said I'd gnaw on them for hours and hours. Don't use the mini ones though - seems like a baby could accidentally swallow one.
