It's not easy to "waste your time" with a Master of Science degree!!! It sounds like you won't require that much to do what you mention, but tha decision is a long way off.
I think you are fortunate to be aware of a long term goal at your age. That means you can make sure your high school courses support your goal, and it will demonstrate to you whether or not you are really happy to go on in that direction.
Bottom line: This is not something you need to fight about at this point; youj've got more than 3 1/2 years for that. But you may want to think about needing to earn a scholarship or funding much of your own higher education.
Good luck!!

Hi there. I am in the animal industry- I work with dogs also. It is a very rewarding experience, but i will warn you, its very hard work. The best advice that anyone could give you?
You are in 8th grade, which means you will be going into high school later this year. What i would do is (since u cannot legally work yet) volunteer at somewhere near your home, either a kennel, a trainers, a shelter, anything. This is what i did. It really gave me a dose of what it would be like working with animals (dogs in particular). From there, I was able to branch out into the daycare industry, and now, here i am at a doggie daycare! The best thing to do before you make any decisions (especially as big as going to school for something) is to try it out first. See if you can handle it and you still like it. Plus, the people that you meet while you are volunteering will be valuable connections, and they can also help guide you in the right direction, and give you recommendations.
Trust me, working with animals is very rewarding. Its also very demanding and hard work, and requires alot of patience. I give credit to anyone in this line of work. Good luck sweetie. Give it a test drive before you buy!!!! :)

You have a long time before you need to decide anything. As someone who loves animals and is well past college, I would recommend going to a "regular" school and getting a science degree, which you can later use for veterinary school. Get a broad education and you can always train service dogs. In fact, you can contact your local guide dog group now and see if they accept puppy walker volunteers. Don't limit yourself too early. But now is a good time to start checking out what you might like to do by volunteering and interning in jobs that interest you. And as far as colleges go - you may want to check out Cornell and Tufts - both schools are known for their animal programs.

Theres alotof schoolsonline like that--- I would be VERY careful if i was you
Most asstance dogs programs I know of are all volunteer run maybe the there isa payed manager but the dog trainers etc are volunteers ( dog trainers or very knoledgable dog persons)
thats in canada anyways ,,,,,
Maybe lookinto a wider aray of things woth dogs/ animalls so if one thing doesn't work out theway you want another options just arouns the corner -- maybe an animal behaviorist, zooologist, etc then you have more choices alot of 'online' schools are just rip off scames - if u lookinto it further ask to talk to students now employeed that went through the program etc - do your homework

you have no idea how many more times you will change your mind, before during , and after you are finished with school. you're too young to be throwing all your eggs in one basket. just realize that you as a person will change exponentially over the next few years, there's no hurry... heck i'm 32 and just completely changed carears!
