My husband is a NASCAR ADDICT. I don't know ANYTHING about it, and I've tried to sit down and watch races with him to get a better understanding of it, but he gets so mad when I ask questions. We don't have anything in common so I thought (I love cars) this would be the one thing we could do together. He goes to four races a year and refuses to let me go with him because I don't know anything about it? How can I learn if he won't help me?

Start looking at some websites like jayski.com, nascar.com and foxsports.com just to name a few. Try to pick up on some of the current issues with racing so you can have your own opinion on some of the matters at hand. It would be great if you could be watching a race sometime and offer up an observation out of the blue instead of asking a question. Wouldn't he be surprised? I'm sure you know who he likes and you could either root for one of that driver's teammates, another driver he likes or maybe even one of that driver's rivals (could make for some fun wagers). Anyway, just start picking up some of the lingo and storylines that are big right now. If you visit back here often it will help you as well. Pick a question to answer now and then and make yourself look up the answer online. Try some of these ideas and it should help, you'll get into it. Good luck and you will have a blast when you finally go to a race.

There are plenty of avenues to learn about Nascar-TV, Internet, Books, Magazines, but if you really want to spark your interest you need to go to a race. You'll be hooked and want to watch every week and learn as much as possible. If your husband won't let you go with him, grab a couple of your girlfriends and go. He'll probably think you're a true Nascar fan then.

There are lots of ways to get to know more about NASCAR. There are books, there are places on the web with all kinds of info (like NASCAR.COM, Yahoo sports, foxsports etc.) and then there is just watching the races where they explain quite a bit.

As for drivers, why not go with the BEST Jeff Gordon. He's a four time cup champion, 75 race winner and is leading the points. Tony Stewart can't haul Jeff's firesuit for him...

My Boyfriend is the same and I never watched nascar a day in my life before I met him. You do need to pick a driver to route for. You can pick his favorite to support him of you can do what I did and route for the hottest guy, lol!! (Kasey Kahne) Just watch the prerace stuff and listen to the announcer. If they say something that you don't understand jot it down and ask hubby AFTER the race or google it.

whats to know its a bunch of red necks with souped up cars going around in circles sometimes bumping into each other or the wall. now and again they stop 4 gas and some new tires the keep on going the one that gets there first is the winner. doing the dishes is really more exiting. and all they do at the races is go on a 3 day drunk and come home saying that was the best as they watch the replayes on tv

NASCAR is the quantity one advance sport in the U. S., that is objective demographic is 24-50 men with college levels. They make billions each and each 365 days in merchandising on my own. the biggest races will draw 4 hundred,000 followers to the song and each and each fee tag is approximately $a hundred. i for my area do no longer like it and that i've got been to one race (I have been given a loose fee tag) yet it somewhat is heavily no longer NASCAR for Dummies. it fairly is recommended to purchase that e book.......

I'm not sure your problem is learning about NASCAR.

Still ... you can read about it, but your best bet may be to watch one of the racing programs on TV, perhaps the one that runs on weekday afternoons on ESPN2. You'll get a quick education.

And find someone cool to root for, not just because he wins a lot.

Good luck.
