I would have jumped on the coffee bandwagon up to about 10 years ago. I had to go to England on business (we were actually working with clients there to see if England really swings like a pendelum do...but I digress).

I was unable to get a good cup of coffee, so tried the morning tea after about 3 days there looking for coffee, and lemme tell ya, that stuff had to be colored caffeen!!! I LOVED it!

And miss it, back in the states now...I'd drink espresso like coffee if I could afford it (and if my coffee maker would do it) so you know if the caffeen content of the tea impressed me, it was GOOOOoooood.

However, like all things, the correct answer is probably "It Depends...."

Coffee in most cases has a good bit more caffeine than tea, 50% to 150% more (Expresso 300-900% more).

A good list of examples can be found at http://coffeetea.about.com/library/blcaffeine.htm

In a way you could say both.

Tea leaves themselves contain much much more caffeine than coffee beans do. But if you think about it simply, 5 pounds of tea will make you about 1000 cups of tea, but 5 pounds of coffee will only make you about 250 cups of coffee.

Thus, a cup of coffee (brewed with the brand recommended amount of grounds) will contain far more caffeine than a cup of tea simply because it requires more of the raw ingredient to brew a cup to your normal taste specifications. :o)

coffee, unless you're drinking de-cafe. I stick to coffee though because it's pretty close anyway and tea stains your teeth more
