I know the Menu Foods recall was just for wet foods, but has the dry food been tested? I had bought a huge bag of Nutro Ultra before the recall, and am still feeding it to my dogs. Should I switch? They are half way through with the bag and they are not showing any symptoms of illness, would they by now?

I know PeTA is asking for a recall of dry foods, but, while I think PeTA is a valuable organization, sometimes I think they over react??

What should I do? What are others doing with their dry foods?!?

I had this conversation with my vets just yesterday. She told me that at this time neither she or anyone in the vet community is alarmed about the dry food Nutro offers. She also told me that getting another food at this time would do more harm than good to my 2 dogs because they would have a tough time with the food change over. I agreed with her. I am still feeding them the Nutro Large breed food and until something comes up that will force me to change then I will contune to feed them the Nutro.
By the way I had both my Goldens checked for any kidney problems or any other problems that could arise from the recall and they are both fine. I have been with this vet for over 30 years!

PETA is asking to recall the dry foods so that no one is supporting these companies (although it is not Nutro's fault, it is menu foods and China who are at fault). The dry food is fine as it does not have the affected wheat gluten in it.

I'm still feeding my kitty cat nutro

if you destroy your dry food, what will you feed your dogs? nutro is an excellent brand (its what i feed my 2 dogs and 2 cats). the recall wasn't for all wet foods, just the foil-packed gravy-moist food. your food should be safe as all the others.

i still want to know what our carnivorous pets will eat if peta gets their way and ALL meat-based pet foods are recalled...

I also use Nutro my 5 dogs are fine and I've always used it "no signs of stopping" I agree with you about PETA they are a great orginization but certain things they do over react on.

Have been hearing that the problem is with the wet foods only. Hang on and stay tuned.

i gotta tell ya, there will be none of any recalled brand in my kitties tummies...remember...we don't know how this happened...was this an intentional act by an employee?...an accident?...why can't the dry be contaminated, too...screw it...my babies are eating chicken and rice right now...vet says it'll be ok for the short term....
