Pentobarbitol. the drug used for euthanasia.
From: Pentobarbitol
Food and Drug Administration/Center for Veterinary Medicine
Report on the risk from pentobarbital in dog food

Scroll down for list of brands that are contaminated.
The writer says that it is 'safe' amounts. I wonder if he would say the same if it was in his children's food.

I remember reading somewhere that if a dog food was labeled 100% nutritionally complete, that it had all ingredients needed for your dog's health. I have always fed my dogs Purina brand dry food and they have all had long lives. I feed Purina Senior now, but did use Science Diet dry for my puppy because the breeder had her on that. She is now almost a year old and eats Purina dry Senior along with my older dog. My vet says that is fine as both dogs get a multivitamin daily.
