Most likely you're going to teach them what you value and believe, but your beliefs may not be right...so its good not to force your beliefs on them and its good to teach beliefs and values that will help them be great people in society. Also let them form their own but guide them.

Values are basically the things one believe are important in life. Your offsprings will gain most of these values and beliefs from you...so its good to think about some of the things you believe and challenge them to see if they are faulty...you dont want your childern developing a faulty belief system that will cause problems and affect every aspect of their lives.

So I think values like:
Honesty
Trust
Cooperation w/others
Responsiblity
Respect of Others
Courage
Self-Control
Abliity to Solve Problems by make the right decisions
Assertiveness
Self-Assuredness
Friendliness
Good Self-Esteem
are some good values to teach.
I hope this helps.

I teach my children to keep an open mind and think for themselves. I would never push my beliefs on them. I just tell them that what ever your beliefs the number one goal is to be a good person.

I would personally teach my children standard morals, the difference between right and wrong, but let them decide on their beliefs and religions and what have you by themselves when they are old enough to and not enforce anything on them that they may not like when they get older.
