well for the most part males leave females alone. and also considering it would be a pup that makes me think even more that he would leave her alone. i have seen a lot of dogs that are mean but put with a puppy they are much different.

Actually a female would probably calm him down. Girl dogs are usually the head of the pack. It could be good for him! Just make sure to watch his behavior when you bring home the puppy. He will try to be mean at first but you got to let him know that isn't acceptable.

There IS the occasional male who considers that puppies should all be killed.....
Next question: why do you want pups outta a dog with a temperment so bad you worry about him beating up his mate?

That is mainly your decision if he would beat your other one up. I would have to know your dog to answer that. If you want to have pups take him to the park everyday and let him hang around other dogs. Boy dogs do not beat up girl dogs in fact they want to be around them if they are not neutered. Take your dog to the place where they sell the pups, but you have to bring the yearly rabie shot with you they'll want to see it, and let them kinda sniff around then get used to each other. Then if you think there right for each other buy it. P.S. female dogs are not as territorial and know it is the boy dog who should be the leader

my friend has an older female, she got a puppy that was 4 months old and at first her older dog didnt want anything to do with him. she only nipped or bit at him when he got to close. she gets along with him for the most part now and i say that because they do play and run the yard together but when she doesnt want him to bother her she lets him know. i cant say it will be that way for your dog(s) but then again it may be even better

It depends, does your dog generally get along with other dogs, if he shows any aggression towards dogs, id take him to a socialising course before getting a puppy, if he is fine with other dogs, should be ok....just make sure you keep him as Alpha dog, feed him first, put his lead on first when going for walks, this way he wont feel threatened by a new dog if he feels he is still boss dog.

In my experience, dogs of opposite genders have always gotten along well, and I have known quite a few dogs.
