I draw and paint, but I haven't done so in about 3 years. I'm fifteen now so I haven't been painting for a long time, and I never took any art classes even in elementary. So now I'm painting again. I don't draw anymore because even though I am good at drawing, drawing isn't fun anymore. Now I like to paint because It's fun. And I have this theory in painting. I think that people should paint only for fun and as a way of expressing how you feel and not to impress anyone or to make a good painting or a "master piece". So is my theory sort of correct? Is there any sort of painting that adopts the same idea?

I hate to be the one to dampen your spirits, Maha, because you do have a great attitude towards the task. But (You knew there was a 'but' coming, right?), please try to learn all the rules about creating fine art without losing your free spirit. One must learn the rules and understand them before one goes about breaking them. Then you'll have even more fun!

Did you say you were 15? wow,....
You have hit a bullseye. I think, your theory is 100% correct.

I agree, that art is not about impressing some one else. Part of being an artist is to Rebel, being true to your own spirit and saying "I'm doing what I want and there is nothing you can do about it."

I will have to say I feel differently about the part with the, "master peices." I think, Master Peices, come from Artists who are true to them selves. Artists who share your theory in a sense. In the end, it is the "Public or Society", that has the last say in what might be a master piece.

Other than that,..."stick to your guns" kid and you'll make it. You have the right aditude, and your happy with what you do.
