when they are kittens, they drink cat milk (obviously).

all milks are NOT the same... cow milk, goat milk, cat milk, human milk...

humans are the only animal that continues to drink milk after infancy. and we don't even drink our own milk!

it won't 'hurt' your cat, but just like humans, cats can be lactose intolerant, which means by giving her milk she may have diarrhea and other digestive problems! its better to just stick with water when hydrating your kitty! if you want to give her a treat, give her a good rubbing, a liver treat, or catch her a moth! (my cats LOVE to chase and eventually eat moths.)

The general answer is no - cats are lactose intolerant and cow's milk can give them diarrhoea. It also doesn't help cats who are prone to obesity keep the weight off!

Conversely, my cat was brought up on milk for the first 10 years of her life and she lived to 18 - but I guess there are always exceptions to the rules!

I would always advise NO COWS MILK. If you want to give milk tho, use cat milk from pet stores, but only as a treat.

I have 3 cats and they are Milkaholics!
I only give them Organic Skim Milk. and only 1 or 2 saucers full per day, which equals about 2-4 tablespoons each per day.
If they do not get the milk they will stand infront of the fridge and yell at me.

(I have actually been thinking of a 12 step program for them)

But they are very strong, happy, healthy, and very playful.
2 of them are 8 years old, the other is 3 yrs old

Have never given my cats cows milk. Gave them some special milk just for cats, and they chose water over the milk. Stick to water, that's probably what they prefer.

In general, no. Most adult cats are lactose intolerant. Actually, most adult animals PERIOD are lactose intolerant. Milk is only a necessity when animals are young as they have no teeth and it allows them to get nutrients and anti-bodies against infection.

However, there are exceptions to every rule - the most common being adult humans. We, obviously, drink milk, though it isn't really necessary as you can get calcium from many other (and often better) sources. Adult cats will occasionally like milk, as well. I really wouldn't recommend trying to see if your cat likes milk, though, as the side effects of it will outweigh any benefits.

No it is not good for cats to drink milk ,cats are actually lactose intolerant.Which means they cannot breakdown milk products in their system.

Some stores sell specially formulated milk made for cats to tolerate... but the "cats like milk" thing is a myth...

I would give a kitten milk, but only for their first few months. If you give a cat too much milk it will bet diarrhea and could even die.

no. They are lactose intolerant and cows milk will give them diarrhea. They just need fresh water.
