We are going through this with our 20 month old. Apparently, he had croup and he has GERD. It took taking him to a new pediatrician to get everything diagnosed correctly. The doc says he will grow out of the GERD (I really hope so).He takes AXID twice a day, to reduce the amount of acid his stomach produces.
I would suggest talking to your doctor about Reflux. Also, try to get your little guy to sit still a few minutes after he eats. Try to avoid spicy foods and chocolate. Don't let him lay down right after he eats. Good luck.

I used to take care of a little girl who would do the same thing. She would throw up when she ate something new, when she didn’t like the taste, or the pieces were too big. She would always cry afterward.
Her parents were kind of ‘hands-off’. (She was still on the bottle at 18 months. I was the one who broke her from it.) I started making sure that the pieces were small enough or something that she could hold on to and gnaw on. When it was items that were new to her, I would put them on my plate and make yummy noises when I ate it. She always wanted things from my plate. This helped to curb the vomiting. When it came to things that she didn’t like the taste of, I would wait a couple of weeks and try the food again. I used the-my-plate–yummy-noises technique again. There were sometimes that she still would not like it, and she would also recognize some of the foods and refuse them.
These all helped to end the vomiting. Her mother had taken her to the doctor, who said the same things that you have heard. When I left the family, she was not throwing up hardly at all. When I would take over from her parents feeding her, she still threw up. In addition, when she tasted things that she did not like. However, the vomiting was very limited.

Yikes, that definitely does not sound normal! I would definitely keep seeing different doctors until you find a cause -did the doctors at Children's express any concerns about it, give any suggestions, or did they just say they didn't find anything? that can't be good for your son.
The closest thing I can come to this was my niece was very "gaggy" - she threw up very easily - not necessarily every day though - but it usually was whenever she cried, or during eating or drinking. Anyways, they finally agreed it was her tonsils - they were huge - and removed them. It improved her dramatically - not only is she not gaggy anymore, it actually improved her eating - she's not as a picky eater. I don't know if this helps at all, but I hope you find something for him and you! Good luck!

He might have a gag reflex like my wifes son. He used to go through this just because he ate something. Had his tonsils out and made it a little better, but he's still very picky about some foods most people eat.

Does he have asthma--my daughter has asthma and would throw up alot because she would not know how to get the phelm(not sure how to spell that) out in the mornings so she would choke on it and thus puke, now she's a little older and we use a humidifier to help her lungs less puking but still the slightest cold will make her puke.

acid reflux/gerd is what i would say is the cause because my daughter did the same thing and she went to a ear nose and throat doctor who put a scope down her throat to see what is causing her problems and she is on childrens prevacid and reglan. seems like everyone's answers are about the same from what i read in the other answers.. talk to your doctor and if they don't listen maybe you need a new doctor..

Yes, I have two that did the same type of thing.
They prescribed baby Zantac (I think it's OTC actually), which helped a lot. They no longer need it.
