Iscariot was one of Jesus' disciples and walked with Him for 3.5 years, yet none of the other disciples considered him a servant of satan (Judas was the one who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver).

Many questions concerning "christians" are asked on Y/A Religion. But "christian" is a vague term as I have shown. Perhaps we can use the term "true believer" or "born-again person" or "saved person" to designate someone who has been given eternal life through the grace of God (Jesus Christ)?

I believe you are correct - Jesus said, "You must be born again." As for the other disciples, they were not aware of what Judas really was until after the fact.

Christian is not a vague term.

First touching on Judas, in the book of John (obviously you haven't read) Many people who once followed Jesus departed from him, leaving 12 (including Judas). Jesus pointed out that the ones left (excluding Judas) were the ones he initially called personally. He also stated that one of them doesn't truly believe. He knew Judas' heart. Jesus knows us all. You will encounter many that say they are Christian, but don't carry the Christian traits. Will you fall for Satan's messagers (those "False Believers")?

Secondly, Christian isn't a vague term. It is a term that Satan is distorting. Believer could be a vague term also, because you have people who believe is different things. Same as "Saved". Many Satanist can say they are saved.

"Central doctrines" of the Christian faith are those doctrines that make the Christian faith Christian and not something else.

The Christian faith is a definite system of beliefs with definite content (Jude 3). Certain Christian doctrines constitute the core of the faith.

Central doctrines include the Trinity (One God, three Persons), the deity of Christ as the second person of the Trinity, the bodily resurrection, the atoning work of Christ on the cross, and salvation by grace through faith. These doctrines so comprise the essence of the Christian faith that to remove any of them is to make the belief system non-Christian.

Scripture teaches that the beliefs mentioned above are of central importance (e.g., Matt. 28:19; John 8:24; 1 Cor. 15; Eph. 2:8-10).

Because these central doctrines define the character of Christianity, one cannot be saved and deny these.

In other words, there are many who claim to know the Word of the Lord, but few who know the Lord of the Word.

Judas denied Jesus also--as he also betrayed him--he also denied Him.
What does God say about this?
1 John 2:22
Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son. And Judas was meant to do this...Jesus knew it from the beginning. (Good example of how this shows even those in church or who seem "closest" to God can betray Him and deny Him, not truly love Him)

1 John 2:23
No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

it depends on what you mean by considered a Christian?
I know a lot of people that clam that they are Christian, and can tell a good story of a man named Jesus that was born here and was crucified on a cross for our sins and they believe it but thats as far as it goes they do not try to live a life acceptable to Christ. They only believe what they have been told. (you know the stores that are handed down from generation to generation, like santa and the easter bunny our children believe the stores that we tell them)
What I am trying to get across is that just because some one can tell a story about Jesus doesn't make them a Christian. It is what is in ones heart I know that faith comes by hearing so we must continue to teach our children of Christ, but maybe we should drive home the fact that it is not a fairy tail.
As far as Judas didnt Christ tell him to go and do what he must do? I believe that his heart was set on betraying Christ and Christ new it.
there are a lot of people that call themselves Christians and do not try to live for the Lord
If you ask some one what their testimony is, youll be more able to tell if they are a true Christian or not. I could give you my entire testimony but don't know if I could type that much. so I'll tell you who I am. I am a born again child of the living Jehovah GOD and can only be that through the love of my Savior Jesus Christ the only begotten

First of all, Judas was a disciple of Christ, but he was not a regenerate Christian. In other words, he did not place his FULL faith and trust in Jesus alone. That is what a true "Christian" is. If you are to become a true born again Christian, you have to know that you are a sinner, deserve nothing but eternal separation from God because of that sin, and put all your trust in the sacrifice at the cross for your salvation. If you trust in anything else, such as your own good deeds, you are damned to Hell.
In response to another answer to this question, no, there are NO good people in Hell. In fact, there are no good people at all. Jesus is the only one considered good by God and that is the only reason that He was able to become the sacrifice so that each of us could enter the kingdom of heaven, should we choose to accept the gift of God's grace. The Bible says "there is none good, no not one." We who are regenerate are only considered good because Christ took our place and paid our ransom. Hopefully this helps.

I am honored to be called a Christian becase I strive to be Christ-like. Just like there were Pharisees and Saducees, there will be fake Christians.

Judas is a perfect example that you can become saved, then fall away and not get into heaven. Salvation is conditional. As long as you repent and are obedient to scripture and maintain a relationship with God, you'll get into heaven.

However, if you repent, know the scriptures then refuse to obey, it's better for you to have never been saved. God is not taking ignorance, or "my bad", or I wasn't sure, as an excuse.

Hope this helps.

Judas was a professing Christian, but you must remember that Jesus truly knew Judas' heart. Judas was the 'treasurer' for Jesus and the disciples and had been stealing money from them all along. Judas wasn't a true believer.

Matt. 12:6--"This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it." (Speaking of Judas here.)

If you study it, Judas did not truly repent (unlike Peter, who did),; Judas regretted his action, but did not truly repent before God, only men. Had he truly repented, Jesus would have forgiven him. And he also would not have hung himself.

Where did you get the idea that Judas is in hell? Yes, he betrayed Jesus and yes, he walked daily with Jesus. But I don't remember it saying anywhere that Judas went to hell. Jesus knew what he was going to do and told him to do it quickly. It wasn't a surprise to Jesus.

Yes, I'm "born again" and I also am a "saved person" and also a "true believer". Jesus is my Savior.

Consider this. There is no entrance exam in the back of the church. There are no hypocrit police arresting Sunday morning snobs.
Christianity is the only people group that doesn't screen it's members. A bad image results from this, but it's the price you pat for loving everyone.
