This is part of the responsibility lesson.
Not only do you need to feed the puppy, but you need to have money for veterinary care, vaccinations, rabies shots, license, etc too.
Keeping your own pet is a lot of responsibility, it's going to rely on you for EVERYTHING. And that can get expensive. You can't blow off the puppy's needs because you want new sneakers or a video game. Just please remember that.

It sounds like your Dad is teaching you what is involved in being a responsible pet owner. I have to budget $1000 a year for my healthy dogs vet care and up keep expenses....of course emergency and unforeseen situations arise also. If you can't afford to own a dog, don't bring one into the family.

I can relate to trying to make money, me and my friends decided to try to open some sort of business together, we tried jewlry making, but got lazy, I tried babysitting but it was hard to get customors, my parents don't pay me money for chores, and they said car washing is fun, not work. I tried everything, so i will tell you some things I tried, maybe they will work for you:
jewlry making
baby sitting
garage sale
lemonade stand
cookie stand
dog walking
car washing
computer help
tutouring
etc.
good luck!

Your dad should not make you pay for a puppy. He is the adult he is obviously just trying to get out of getting you a pet!
He should have just told you no, not right now.
Pets require a lot of attention and they do cost money!

Sell lemonade on the street. You can also sell pepsi, coke, water etc. Ask about .05 for a cup of lemonade and .30 for sodas.
