Brent ~
Aside from coming from a family of woman beaters Uncle Rogers recent lock up Floyd Jr.'s conviction and Floyd Sr. Aggravated Battery Charge and conviction of beating a woman so severely that she has a twitch to this very day. I'd write that Mayweathers are just like the Cleavers.
Floyd's uncle Roger was there on the night that Josie Harris the mother of two of Floyd Jr's children was beaten by Floyd Jr., telling Floyd how "He has to teach her lesson." The things that I wrote here about the Mayweathers are all a matter of public record, it's not made up, it's not hype it's what happened.
The truth of the matter is that Mayweathers were/are talented fighters, but they are pure and total trash outside the ring. A persona they will never be able to escape. From Drug Convictions to beating woman convictions they are indeed a rare breed.
What you see is what you get with Floyd Jr. He can't change his style, his is that of his Uncle Roger and daddy Floyd. He's just faster. Watch the video of Julio Cesar Chavez dismantling Uncle Roger under the direct supervision of Gilberto Reyes. That's the ticket to beating any of the Mayweathers with their tuck and roll style. The left hook is the weapon of choice.
I read today that Freddie has Oscar working on his straight right hand that has been prcatically nonexistant in Oscar career. Any fight fan worth his weight in salt knows that Oscar is a converted southpaw and all of his power is in the left hook, but he needs the straight right as the icing on the cake.
Ali talked and it was poetry. Leonard talked and he was charming. Floyd Jr. talks and it's trash. Jose Luis Castillo beat him and hopefully Oscar will beat him too.
Thanks for the question Brent.

Josie Harris is Floyds exgirlfriend and the mother of two or three of his children on Dec. 27th 2003 according to witnesses and Josie, Floyd beat , kicked, punched and pulled her hair weave out of her head, This was all in the Police reports and the States Attorney's office filed charges as such against Floyd. Josie developed a severe case of memory loss and couldn't remember any beating (wink, wink) and two of the other key witnessses were on vactions during the trial.
Earlier that very same year Floyd Jr. was CONVICTED of beating not ONE, but TWO woman. In August of 2003 Floyd received a one-year suspended sentence and ordered to take "IMPULSE CONTROL COUNSELING" for beating, kicking, punching and Floyd Jr's favorite pulling the hair weaves out of the heads of TWO WOMAN.
All a matter of Public record.
That Floyd Jr. He's a good guy. Chao!

I wouldn't say the Mayweather's dominate boxing, but i'll give them their due inside the ring. Floyd Jr. is an outstanding talent, Roger was a pretty good fighter in his prime and is a decent trainer, and Floyd Sr. is a damn good trainer and wasn't bad as a fighter, but that's where the praise from me stops. Outside the ring, these guys are no good. They've beaten women, Floyd Sr is a convicted felon who sold dope, and they all seem to be very arrogant and disrespectful. But the more Floyd Jr. talks, the deeper he is digging his grave for May 5th. I really don't think he understands what he's up against in De la Hoya. People can say what they want about Oscar, but this man is a tough hombre. He's going to be in Floyd's face like no other man Floyd has fought. Sure, Floyd has a ton of talent, but sometimes talent is only part of the equation. How will Floyd react when he hits Oscar with his best stuff and Oscar doesn't budge? How will Floyd react when Oscar is walking him down and making him fight? How will he react when it's the 9th or 10th round of a brutal fight and his hands are killing him and he has to dig down deep? When Oscar starts landing solid left hooks to the body and he finds out that he can't outspeed Oscar like everyone thought he could? These are all the unanswered questions about Floyd that we don't know about. We know De la Hoya can dig deep and fight hard when the going gets rough, we can't say that about Floyd, but i strongly suspect that we'll get the answer on May 5th.

I don't agree with everything Floyd says but I do like him. He's a great fighter and seems like a cool guy. No, they don't dominate boxing, but Floyd is P4P the best boxer out there and both his uncle and father are great trainers especially Floyd Sr, so he should definitely be proud of what his family has achived in boxing. It's correct that Floyd is an all time great, but he's not "The greatest of all time" though and that's what he likes to call himself.
People also have to remember that Ali's trashtalking during his time was not considered "funny" and "witty"..etc by everybody all the time. Many people couldn't stand it. Ali was no doubt a great and proud man but he was not perfect and he could be very cruel verbally towards his opponents and other people that was definitely not funny. Ali was also hated because he called himself "The greatest of all times". He started all that "greatest of all time" before he was even a champ and kept on talking like that during his whole career. Today Ali is a living legend so everybody loves Ali's trashtalk even the people who hated all that stuff back then and wanted to see him knocked out cold.
Santana!
How can you be so sure that Floyd beat up his ex girlfriend? Apparently she was lying because according to her Floyd left her for another woman and Floyd was found not guilty.
What about the Golden boy. How golden is he? He was accused of raping a 15 year old girl at his house back in 96 but he settled with the woman for some money. Was Oscar guilty or not?...I don't know. Was Floyd guilty or not?...I don't know.
The only thing they (Floyd, Uncle and pops) have in common when it comes to boxing is the "boxing style" Floyd is not just faster than his Uncle and father he's also the better boxer. His jab is sharper, his punches are more accurate, his defense is better, his offense is better. Basically everything his Uncle and father did Floyd can do it but ten times better. Oscar is 34 years old and been boxing all his life. He will box the way he's always been boxing there's no way Freddie Roach will be able to teach Oscar to do something new. You will see the same Oscar as before just more focused and determined like he was against Fernando Vargas.
I like both of them and it should be a good fight but anyone who thinks Floyd underestimate Oscar or that he doesn't know what he's up against, they are all wrong. Floyd knows exactly how great Oscar is and that this is probably going to be the toughest fight of his career. There's no way he underestimates one of the best fighters of this era.
My prediction Mayweather by UD.

The Blogbaba lives in Michigan, and I am very familiar with the Mayweather family. Been a big fan of Roger, Jeff, and Floyd Jr. for what they accomplished in the ring since Floyd was little. Outside the ring, they ain't angels. Santana and Pancho are, unfortunately for the Mayweather family as accurate as they have always been with their boxing perspectives. Most of the legal problems they Mayweather's have had over the years is truly a matter of public record.
I try not to bring personal stuff into play, but like everyone else, the Blogbaba has a code of ethics. Abusing women is almost inexcusable. I say almost, because I had a very good friend, who is nolonger with us, who had his wife empty a six shot revolver into him. He took two in the chest, one in the leg, and three in the back while he was running away. When she clicked on empty, he turned around and KOed her. He lived, they actually worked it out, and 20 years later he died of cancer, but the moral of the story is women aren't always damsels in distress, sometimes they are just a dangerous as the next guy.
We don't know what lead up to all the domestic violence that was so well documented in the papers in Michigan about Roger and Floyd, and I am not making excuses for any of the Mayweathers. Floyd Sr. is not high on the blogbaba's list of favorite trainers, I never could figure out what Oscar saw in him, unless DeLa Hoya knew he would face Floyd Jr. one day, and Oscar hired Sr. just to prepare for Jr. Oscar is smart enough to think that far in advance, and if he walks through Floyd, like some believe he will, it will confirm the blogbaba's suspicions. I have a great deal of respect for Oscar, and consider him one of the greats already. It would be just like him to prepare years in advance for one specfic fight.
I have been picking Floyd to out speed Oscar to a decision since the fight was first talked about, based strictly on the skills each fighter brings into the ring. I still think Oscar has the power and skill to hurt Floyd. It will definately be the defining fight of Floyds career, if he can come up in weight to beat DeLa Hoya. If Oscar wins, the blogbaba will not be all broken up about predictiing wrong.
Great question, and even better responses, the core group at this site has formidable boxing knowledge.
