I just stopped breastfeeding my third child (all my children were breastfeed), and it's taken about 3 weeks for me to completely stop wearing breast pads. I still leak if something is pressed tightly to my chest, like if i'm carrying a heavy box or the baby pressed against that side.
Make sure you stop gradually though to help with the discomfort, because if you don"t IT WILL HURT LIKE H*LL!
I kept the morning feeding a gave her a bottle for the midday feeding. It depends on what time of day you have the most milk. For every feeding you get rid of sub a bottle (but i'm sure you know this already). Wait at least 2-3 days to drop a feeding and keep the ones that you and your child get the most enjoyment from. Good Luck and try Advil for any discomfort you feel, it worked for me.

Everyone's right - it "depends". But what it depends on is how often you're breast-feeding before you quit. If it's just once or twice a day for a quick suckle, it won't take long to dry up - 1-2 weeks at most. If you're feeding every two hours for 20 minutes, it will take a long time (months) and be generally harder for both you and your child(ren).

Gentle weaning is therefore preferred when possible.

When I breast fed my son ....it took about 3 days for my milk to dry up.It is different with everyone but I would wager around 3-5 days.

I just went through this and it took about two weeks for it to completely dry up. I am sure it is completely different for each person though.
