I mean... shouldn't that be considered some kind of mental illness?

There is a diagnosis for it, but the operation is a result of the diagnosis and of itself would be considered a solution and not a problem.

Some people do consider it a mental illness. Others believe it is a choice. Some states have laws against or at least laws that make it a little more difficult to get trans-sexual gender operations. To each his own I say!

It is claimed that the people who get these type of operations go through extensive psychological testing before they are permitted to get the surgery.

I don't know how I personally see this as I have not studied it, but I do know they are tested.

Wow...I only wish the thumbs-down feature was still available for questions.

You need to stop thinking of yourself as "the norm", and start realizing that every human is different. It's not for me to say who you have sex with, or how you choose to dress, just like it's not for you to say the same about anyone else.
