If English is your native language, German will definitely be easier to learn, because it is more closely related to English than Russian. However, Russian is also a member of the Indo-European langauge family, and as such is more closely related to English than, for example, Chinese or Arabic. The Cyrillic alphabet is not the major obstacle to learning Russian. Learning the alphabet is pretty easy. The grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation are a lot harder.
