Hi there I am a Vet Tech and hope to help! It is best to wait until your female is 2 years or older to breed her. Good luck!

Have her spayed. Thousands of dogs (including puppies) are killed every year because there are not enough homes. They are drowned, gassed (which scares them and they panic and start clawing and biting each other while they struggle to breathe) and face other deaths that are not humane. Not all of the puppies and dogs go peacefully into the good night.

Low cost spay and neuter programs are listed on my website.

If you don't care about the 67,000 puppies that can and most likely will be born in the next 6 years from her and just one litter of puppies, than at least let her fully grow and mature, at least 2 years old, and 3 years being even better. Any less than that and you are breeding a puppy, and risking her health even more than you would if you waited until she was older.

Really depends entirely on what breed she is (as some mature faster then others) and on her own personal maturity which varies from individual to individual.
Contact your breeder, or your national breed club for advice on your particular breed.
In my breed the recommendation is after 2 years, but I personally would not consider it before they were 3 years old as I feel they are not mature enough.
If you breed from her before she has fully finished maturing in both mind and body, will not only significantly stunt her own growth but will also mean she will not be mature enough to raise a strong healthy litter as well as a fully mature bi*ch.

Take advice from alot of sources including your vet before making this decision.

As mentioned before, it goes without saying that your bi*ch must be a good healthy example of the breed, with an excellent temperament. Hopefully she will also have had any health tests/screening that are available for your breed too.

Best wishes,

Jabbadal

Your dog really should not be bred untill she is 2 years old. Some say you can do it as early as 6 months but this can lead to her killing the whole litter if your not careful. You should wait untill she is mature enough which with most breeds is abouty 2 years of age. Good luck

Your female needs to be two years old before you breed her. Most of all you need to have owners for your puppies. Make sure you have good homes for them..Remember they didn't ask to be born you are responsible for these puppies for a very long time. It is all up to you to make sure they are well taken care of for the rest of their life. When you breed you need to take this on . It doesn't stop by putting to dogs together and poof puppies. It is a life long commandment Really it is.

A good age would be when she's at least 2 years old. Provided, of course, that she's had and cleared all her health checks (including hip and elbow dysplasia, plus whatever else is a problem in her breed), had her brucellosis test and is an excellent example of her breed, both conformation wise and temperament wise.

Only breed from her if she is a purebreed,is a champion show dog and has passed all the health checks needed for her breed. She should be about 2.

Her intended mate should meet all these criteria too.

Never before the age of two and before then you need to find out a whole lot more. Having a pregnant b*tch and then puppies is hard work and you need to be there 24/7
