A friend and I are trying to pull a prank on someone. We want to put an egg into their lunch and hope that it begins to smell. However, we do not want it to crack open. Hardboiled eggs do not tend to smell after a period of time. 10 points will be awarded to a best answer. Thanks. (I know that this question must have sounded ridiculous; so thanks for anyone who can answer it)

I remember as a child finding leftover Easter eggs (that were hidden and never found) two or three months after Easter. We'd crack them open and they'd smell horrible--we'd gag and choke. It was awful, but we (being dumb kids, lol) just HAD to see what would happen.

Are you in a hurry to play this trick, or could you give the egg a bit of time (a month or so) to "ripen" and get good and rotten? If so, crack the shell a bit (but don't take it completely off) and put it in a nice warm place (at least 75 - 80 degrees) where it won't be disturbed. In several weeks or a month, you'll have your stinky egg. :D

Another trick to play is if you or your friend have a baby who's still in diapers, to take one of the baby's dirty diapers and hide it somewhere in your friend's office. Somewhere they'd NEVER think to look. My old boss did this to a coworker and it drove him NUTS. He was out buying air freshener, candles, you name it. It was (very mean!) too funny.

I'm wondering what this friend did to deserve two friends like you guys! If you want to do a prank, and you know beyond a reasonable doubt that your friend will laugh about it later with the two of you and also exact revenge when you least likely suspect it, then perhaps you should visit a store that specializes in practical jokes for some help.

How about leaving the egg out in the sun 2 days before and sticking it in there. I once forgot a carton of eggs in my car and it was so gross! I couldnt get the smell of rotten egg out for weeks. I had to drive with my windows down so I wouldnt puke!!!

Is there a reason it has to be an egg? An egg will not go bad fast enough to smell before it is discovered. I used Limberger Cheese one time - that starts off smelling bad!
