We have been going out for over a year now. We were talking about April Fool's jokes when he told me about the jokes he decided NOT to play on me (how sweet). They included: 1. telling me he was seeing another woman who goes to his gym (the gym is a touchy subject with meat times) 2. telling me he was going to break up with me and we should just be friends. He has a very twisted sense of humor and I can be a little sensitive. But I can't help but wonder if these two jokes don't point to him really cheating (we don't live together and don't see each other everyday so I would have no clue about the gym situation). And as far as the breaking up business, could that be his way of hinting around he is not happy and doesn't know how to end it?

Same thing happened to me.
Here's what you should do:
On April Fool's day tell him
"I know you cheating on me with a girl at the gym,
So it's over, I don't want to be with you anymore"

See how he reacts -
If he laughs it off
he's totally joking - if he says OK
then it's over ~

Be ready for the worst

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you're absolutely right in inferring that he is hinting that he wants to break up. I mean no matter how twisted your "jokes" are, these kinds of jokes are just out of question. And I don't think they're funny at all. I mean what's funny about telling your partner that?? I don't even get that joke. Additionally, why do BOTH of the jokes deal with breaking up with you? Can't he get a little more creative? If he has a sick sense of humor, I think he would come up with something even more twisted than just to break up with you. I think he's definitely hinting that he wants to break it off with you but he doesn't want to do it or he doesn't know how to do it. So I'm guessing that he wants to tell you in an indirect way so you question him and break it off with him first. That way, he's not 'really accountable' for the failure of the relationship. You should probably go to the gym he goes to and investigate this further. Don't spy on him because that's eerie but just "accompany" him when he goes to the gym. And if he knows that the gym is a touchy subject with you at times, then he wouldnt even consider it as a "joke'' issue.

Good luck!! (Be firm with him and demand answers)

No, it means he's insecure and wants you to be jealous. Although, I'm pretty sure you might be if you don't like him going to the gym.

well, that sounds a bit shady to me.....some people will use jokes to convey feelings they don't feel comfortable saying outright. and I am not a fan of that kind of humor....it undermines the relationship with insecurities...and it's not funny.
