we all are married now it's not really a celebration anymore it feels like an obligation every month or so.

Yep, I hear ya. We quit doing it a few years ago.......I mean Im married w/kids now and dont need to go out for my parents or sisters bdays. My schedule is already overbooked..... but my parents are retired and always are looking for something to do so cant understand why we dont want to always get together......my down time is going to be spend ALONE

Why don't you suggest something else and make a new tradition. Your parents may just want to have everyone together and feel like birthdays are the only time to do so. Be open, make it exciting and fun. Add some karaoke in the mix!

why go if u dont enjoy it sounds like ur in a rut why not do something different u can start the new trend
