Today, I read in the Albuquerque journal that a lady had her baby in the road near a hospital standing up. A lady went running to her and realized that there was blood everywhere and a umbilical cord hanging from her but no baby.. then all of a sudden she sees that there is baby. Then found the baby rolled underneath the woman's vehicle. My god I said. Both mother and child were taken to the emergency room and the woman just left and gave up the baby.. (Abandoned the baby girl) The woman who rescued the baby was a hospital worker. It was a sad sad horrible story on the front page of the Albuquerque Journal. SAD world. It turns out that the baby girl was not harmed in anyway. According to the newspaper, the mother will not be prosecuted. What do you think of such a horrible story? I do know that the newborn is not with temporary adoptive parents. What do you think should happen to the mother? Opinions.. thoughts? I was devasted to read such a horrible thing. Thank god the child is safe

according the the newspaper, she was blocks away from the hospital and had her bottom clothes off. From the way I understand, she intended to abandon the innocent baby. I teared up too!

Thank God the baby is okay! I think the woman who gave birth to her should be prosecuted to the highest extent! In this day and age, there is no excuse. It doesn't cost a dime for a woman to give up a child for adoption. It sounds to me that this woman didn't even care enough to make sure the poor, little, INNOCENT child was ok. That child did not ask to be born. The poor little girl didn't have a choice. I have tears in my eyes as I write this. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the authorities would let this evil woman get away with this. They need to be ashamed. To Protect and Serve? Sure! Unless it comes to innocent newborns!

Well that is what daniel's Law is for if a child is under 30 days old all u do is go to a hospital and tell them u sdon't want the child so the baby is taken care of. this law is named after a child that was found in a landfill or something not sure which the mother didn't want the child and if would have had this law then maybe that baby would still be alive. here you can read a little bit more about it all states have it just a different name some call it safe haven. but unfortunatly not all these mothers know about this act and if more knew maybe the illegal abondment would stop. I think she did what she thought was best for her and the baby

It was good that the woman left the baby because she obviously lacks that natural, maternal, instinct mothers who should be mothers have.

There's a chance she was temporarily nuts because of hormones, though; but, again, that just means its good she left the baby with others for now.

I do think the mother should be prosecuted, though (but maybe she's just clearly out-and-out nuts, and the newspaper couldn't say that because they don't have access to medical records or something else that could back up such a statement).

Just a note, though: As you must know, newborns cannot roll anywhere. It takes babies a while to be able to roll over, so that must have been the lie the woman told people who asked how the baby got under the car.

while she shouldn;t have given birth on the side of the road I would not say she had the baby then drove off abandoning her on the side of the road. She seems to have been in shock, maybe the birth progressed to fast and she had no other option then did not know what to do. Women are allowed to abandon their babies at hospitals without fear of prosecution, it is law, at least here in Minnesota it is. It is intended to cut down on the numbers of women having babies and throwing them in dumpsters etc. Yet she still gets condemned from some people because she did something that not only was in her right to do, but was probably best for the baby. Would you have rather she aborted the baby, or would she have been condemned for that as well. Maybe people should be grateful she gave her child a chance at life and gave some couple a chance to adopt a child instead of wanting to throw her in jail.

What females, young and old, are doing with newborns is just a sad case when it comes to what child birth is suppose to do to a woman, bring out the motherly instincts, etc., but for some reason it just seems to do the opposite. I had three children and for the love of God, I know that I would not have been able to deliver any one of them by myself. And even with the pain and everything else associated with childbirth, I love them to death. I cry each and every time I hear one of these stories and thank God each and every time for a happy ending for the child, this unknowing, trusting soul, just left by the roadside, why, how is this done, what is the mindset of these women. Imagine beginning life in a toilet, duffel bag, garbage bag, it is not fair, they do not deserve this.

i live in ABQ and I'm familiar with the story. thank God we have laws in place that allows women to dropped off and give up her parental rights. praise the lady for doing the right thing. what if we would of read" newborn found crushed to death under car, umbilical cord still attached. search is on for mother." if she new in her heart of hearts that this baby was better off, and she made the best decision for that child. think about this situation when a dead baby is found in a trashcan and makes the front page.....and believe me one will........

I am digusted that no one has even thought about tracking down the father to see if he can support the child. He should be given the choise just as the mother shouldn't he? And what about the grandparents. In a death they track down next of kin and they should also with live birth. If that would have been a daughter's or a son of mine's, I certainly would want to know to raise the child with blood relatives.

I think the mother of the baby (though you said no physical harm was done to the baby) should be arrested for child endangerment. Giving birth without assistance and letting her child either fall out of her onto the ground and roll under her car (or throwing/placing her child under her car) is evil. She had the intention of her child getting hurt or dying. I think that intent should be grounds for finding her guilty of some form of child abuse.

Honestly, I don't even know what to say to that. My eyes teared up alittle. I have two kids and one of them is a baby girl and i am sick to my stomach.
Was she on the way to the hospital to have her? Or did she intend to leave the baby in the road? If so then the b*tch needs to pay. excuse my language.

sounds like this women had no control over giving birth on the street. maybe she was in shock. they have that law where women can give up their babys, no questions asked. so probably nothing will happen to her.
