Because nicotine is a legal drug there's no reason for to look for it.

It doesn't matter if it does or not (it can depending on the test) it's not against the law!
They will be testing for illegal substances and sometimes alcohol levels!
A non-smoker wouldn't need to test him for nicotine as they'd smell it on his clothing anyway!
If it was health insurance they'd test for nicotine rather than take his word for it but I doubt the smoking of cigarettes has anything to do with why he's on probation!

A drug test is not a pass fail exam. The test will show exactly what is in the subject. Therefore since Nicotine is not illegal it doesn't matter even if it was shown on the test, it would be ignored. They are only looking for illegal drugs.

Yes it does if they do a panel drug screen it will. I work for a doctor office and I pull drug screens all the time and I always see nicotine in them.So if hes not allowed I suggest that you tell him to quit if they look for nicotine then they will find it.

Yes, Nicotine can and will show up. It takes a few days for it to pass out of the system. Even chewing tobacco can be spotted. Insurance companies will raise your rates if it is found in your system.

If they test for it, yes. But it costs money and I doubt they will run a test they do not feel is necessary. FYI some companies refuse to pay health insurance now for people who smoke...these people are tested for nicotine.

is your friend under aged? cigarettes aren't illegal but you have to be a certain age. nicotine can show up in a drug test. it just depends on what kind of test. if they ask him specifically about cigs and he denies it. and he is under age. then he might get in trouble.

nicotine can show up on urine but if you are not looking for it then it doesn't really matter, nicotine use is not banned even if you are on probation

To the best of my knowledge no, and unless stated in the terms of his probation that he cannot smoke, then smoking is not a violation so your friend should have nothing to worry about.

When they do drug tests, nicotine is not what they're looking for - they're looking for narcotics and illegal substances.
