just started taking lupron injections for prosate cancer 5 months ago and psa is very low. how long will be effective

I'd suggest you ask your oncologist. Another source of opinions would be the alt.support.cancer.prostate group on Usenet which is accessible through any newsreader or Google Groups. There are lots of informed people with prostate cancer there. You would also be able to read many previous responses to similar questions by searching this group's archives for past answers.

I'm going on 5 years, post surgery, radiation, and Gleason of 10. I'm creeping up, but still have low PSA. Don't let your initial doctor leave you in limbo on side effects. If that person doesn't want to deal with hot flashes you may experience, get to someone who can help you, possibly Psychiatrist. I won a judgment against my primary for failing to do PSA when I was 57. Said they did, so I ignored urinary symptoms.
Be sure to walk each day. I feel good, but tire some. I am on second stage hormone therapy, new drug casodex. Keep keeping on.
