My puppy is 6 months old and we got her from a shelter at 1 month. She is a complete mix and was very naughty when we got her but is now calming down. We thought it would be good to get her spayed early but she was very poorly after the op an dis obsessing over her stitches and now the weeing problem has started again which we thought we had solved. I think she likes to attention seek and be the boss!

The same thing happened to my dog. I rescued her at 9 months and had her spayed and she went back to peeing in the house. I took her to the vet and they said it was incontinance and gave her meds, they didn't work. After a few months, she quit peeing in the house again. She has been a very challenging dog as she was very mistreated in her previous home, but it is four years later and with the time and love I was willing to give to her, she has become a wonderful friend and companion. I am no expert, but I think when some females are literally cut open to be spayed, it takes time for those muscles to heal to again hold there urine as long as they and we were used to. Imagine if it were you! Consult your physician and then give her some time, but don't give up!

She may not be doing it on purpose. As others said, incontinence is sometimes a problem after a spaying. It should only be temporary though. Take her out to go more often, and if it doesn't get better in a few days, take her back to the vet.

Incontinence problems are common in spayed females. It's just another reason to wait until the dog has matured before sexually altering them! Mother Nature gave them all those hormones for many reasons!!!!!!

Give your dog as much attention as you have to give.

You brought home a dog that has been through things you haven't a clue about. Give her time, give her love, give her whatever she needs to become whole again and accept the fact that she may always need more attention than any other dog you have owned.

And by the way, thank you so much for taking home that little girl, you are a hero!

She might be mad at you too. After we had our dog neutered he chewed up several pieces of wood molding around the floor. They sometimes act out after surgery like that. Our puppy only have the acting out episodes for roughly three weeks after the surgery.
