a couple of weeks ago i was talking to this kid in one of my classes. i wanted to ask him to prom but i had heard he liked someone else. in the IM he started talking about the issues he was having with this girl. i think he wanted my input and i just couldn't answer. so we started talking about me and i asked him for some advice on asking a guy to prom who may like someone else. he told me to ask the guy even if he may say no. but after a while he realized it was him but never actually verbalized it. by then he said you should ask this guy and he might eventually realize that he likes you more than this other girl and plus if you never tell him he'll never know that you felt that way about him. does this mean this guy likes me?

he also said that he thought that i was a smart, well spoken, original and pretty girl...and at the end of the conversation he told me that he was "glad we had this chat."

Hell, just tell him youre taking his advise and asking him to prom... if he says no, he will still respect you because he knows how worried you were about what he would say and think. If he thinks your smart and pretty, there is no shame in letting him know you think the same of him.
