You should get a list of stuff to bring. The main thing that I would make sure that I have is a fairly good sized padlock to lock my wall-locker with. Work on memorizing the combination now...I don't know if things have changed, but we were allowed to have either combo or key...I made the mistake of bringing a key lock at first, and at one point while being chewed out by the drill sergeant, managed to throw everything into my locker (including the keys) and lock it. Stupid stupid. Had to wait 15 hours for him to come cut the lock off, thus had to borrow a bunch of stuff to get by during that time. Not smart.
Bring a minimum of civilian clothes, as you won't need them.
You'll be given the opportunity to buy things that you might need such as footpowder, flashlight, etc.
Good luck. From what I have heard from recent drill sergeants, it's not nearly as bad as it was when I went through. I got called a 6 letter word that begins with F that is generally (in polite conversation) to be considered to be a deragatory term for a homosexual more times than I could possibly count during my basic training days. I guess they're not allowed to do that anymore.

You can bring all that stuff, but you won't be allowed to use it and you just might get some push ups just for bringing it. Your recruiter should have a list of stuff that is and isn't allowed. Good luck in boot camp.

The clothes on your back, underwear, socks, running shoes and feminine products. I wouldn't bring anything else, it will get shipped home of locked in a closet.
Good Luck with Boot. It will be the hardest thing you will ever do in your life!

Unless things have changed. You can bring a suitcase full of what you need. But you won't be allowed access to any of it until you complete boot camp. Check with your recruiter.

your recruiter should tell you what to bring. there is no reason to bring makeup, you will not need it. clothes, you will not need either, they will probably ship them home and make you pay for it, you will be supplied everything you need and you'll also pay for it...
