I use ADAWARE by a company called lavasoft to scan for and get rid of spyware. (its free for download)

I also use Windows Firewall, works great.

You can also get AVG, which is a free anti-virus from:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/28415/lng/us/tpl/v5
but i don't use it.

You shouldn't have to pay for great computer security programs. I've found that the free ones work the best.

Mcafee and Spysweeper as it seems to be rated the best for clearing spyware.
