I have been drinking 4-5 cups of green tea per day over the last 3 weeks and i am feeling sleepy and tired most of the times. Is this caused by my tea consumption?

Possibly... Green Tea does have caffine in it, so this leads to a temporary awake feeling, but it will be followed by a crash that leaves you more tired than you were before you had the caffine to begin with. As with any drug, you can build up a tolerance to it so after a while you don't feel the perk up effects of the caffine anymore. Drinking 4-5 cups a day could definitley lead to a caffine crash that has you exhausted. Also if you put sugar or other sweeteners in the tea that can add to the tired feeeling....

It is supposed to be good for you but 4or 5 cups a day may be to much, I drink ice blackberry tea and I drink at least 4 glasses a day and it doesn't make me sleepy but I don't use sugar maybe that is what is making you sleepy, if so try splenda.

Green tea, is real good for your health, but to much might make u lightheaded, so i advise you lower the amount u take in daily, and maybe its just because of school or work, perhaps, and u just need to sit back and relax, oh yeah try chai, another tea from pakisatn and india, it really relaxes people, hope this helps!!!

Sounds likely. That's a lot of tea. Too much caffeine can have the reverse effect on you.
