I know that you can get an infection from any kind of a bite dog; humans and even cats,,there mouth have lots of bacteria as do humans...i have never heard of a person lose a body part cause of it,,,,lol

My son just got out of the hospital. He were in th hospital for 7 days due to a dog bite on his hand. The dog fratured his hand and he has two puncture wounds. They also found he got a infection from the dog. He were on iv and oral antibotics. Now he is home on oral antibotics for the next 6 wks. Good luck,, dont play around with dog bites. Not fun.

The first part of your question is yes.. The germs in dog's mouth will cause infections in your skin. Left untreated can result in lots of tissue loss and scarring. I don't understand the second half.

Some times dogs bite themselves. And i have heard their saliva has a healing propitiatory for their own wounds. An infection can be under the skin and entail a doctor to lance it. Its great we have vets.

Any animal bite can cause an infection if not properly treated at the outset.

Yeah it can. I had a dog bite my weiner, and it got infected. They had to cut it off sadly...
