If you want a real answer from a real Christian the answer is never. I believe you teach your children the beliefs you hold dear and explain to them and more importantly you live by the beliefs you teach him. Part of the Christian faith is that all who are unsaved will go to hell, but that is why Christ died for us. I do not mean to sound preachy but I have had friends raised with the threat of Hell hanging over their heads and it is wrong.

NEVER! NEVER, EVER, EVER!

I don't threaten ANYONE with hell, EVER! I prefer to LOVE them to Christianity, and perhaps try to answer their questions patiently, but NEVER threaten them.

And even though you didn't ask, I'll tell you why. I was raised in a Christian home, but at thirteen, I started having doubts. Until I was sixteen, I was an atheist. Then I became Wiccan, until I was twenty. After that, I was agnostic for five years, but leaning towards Christianity.
During that ENTIRE twelve years or so, my mom knew exactly what was going on. And she NEVER threatened me with hell, EVER.
If my children have trouble with having faith, I'll respect that, as my mom respected me. I don't plan to EVER threaten them.

That is so sad. Everytime I heard an unusual sound as a child I would worry and run outside and look in the skies, to see if God was coming back and would send me to hell. It was very scary, especially after I passed 12, which was the age when you were supposed to be responsible for your own sins. Before that you would have a free ride.

i am sorry, you may have been raised in the false make-believing christian home.
The spirit of christ and anti-christ are so close that it would deceive the elect if possible but it's not. those spirits work within the framework of the same church. one produces a spiritual true-christian the other produces a false bastard christian that persecutes the true brother and in many cases kills the genuine christian.
like that false prophet pope did in the dark ages killing 68 million christians that wouldn't bow to his false doctrine.
and He will kill millions more only this time he will be united with the protestant-image in the world council of ecumenical churches.

I have taught my children there is a Heaven and a Hell. There is God and there is Satan. It is my duty to do so. Anyone that doesn't teach their children right from wrong is doing their children a disservice. And they will be held accountable.

And the more important thing-Jesus died for all of us. Without Him we are lost.

The proper time to treat your children as you say, is when you stop asking silly questions such as the present one. Get a life brother and leave the Christians in peace.

I've never been threatened with hell and I won't do that to my kids either. They have a mind of their own and they have to make their own choices, I can't do it for them.

Never! Sorry if that happened to you. No one ever threatened me, I was just told the consequences of not believing, but even THAT didn't convert me. Love did, eventually.

CROW (sorry) jam...telling our kids about hell is not a threat it is a warning of a place where one will be for eternity if they decide not to comply with Gods rules.
