Only extremely shy people who find everday life too difficult to function should take medication for it. I was always shy but not to the point of being unable to function in society. I was able to overcome much of my shyness by the types of work I have done, especially now as a home support worker.

I think shyness is a normal personality trait, however the world would probably be a somewhat better place if more people could be open about themselves. Then again, maybe some things are better kept inside!

However, being very shy myself, I think that the true person is what happens in their mind, not always what they say, so depending on how much they speak might be unrelated to their persona.

I think social factors throught a child's life causes Shyness. Not to mention, the introduction of technology, and bad nutrition can affect it too.

Shyness is not a chemical thing. At least for most people. It comes from fear. Once you get over your fears you'll be fine.
