I've been told I have to learn to live with the "glare" that I'm suffering in my right eye. Over the last week it's gotten worse. There's still no sign in the pupil of it going cloudy yet, but I'm getting major headaches trying to deal with the extra light. I also have photophobia, sorry if the spelling isn't right. Has anyone else my age suffered from this?

You need to have an operation...just to change the lens if am not mistaken... Have the doctor told you that the cataract should be well formed for them to do the operation?

Do you smoke...you need to eat loads of leafy green vegetables like kurly kale and spring greens. Keep out of smokey places and polluted atmospheres as it can aggravate cataracts.

Have you thought of asking for sun glasses from an optician to protect your eye from further glare and UV rays. I doubt whether a surgeon would operate on your eye just yet not until you are wee bit older as they can grow back.

You are a little young but my friend discovered she had a cataract in her early forties but she smoked, though she has now given it up to protect her eyes.

Ask about reactalite glasses not full blown sun glasses, and alway wear a large brimmed hat when you are in the sun not a big floppy one but the sort sports people wear.

I know a lot about this subject as I have just been told I have macular puckering and will require an operation. Though i'm a good deal older than you.

All the best and try not to worry too much..it is curable. We shuld have eaten our greens like our mothers told us to. Lol

Cateracts can be removed through a simple operation, I hear the procedure is quite basic, and if the cateract has been there for a short period of time then it's even better. You don't have to live with the 'glare', there is an option to receive surgery. Though it is relatively uncommon for a person aged 38 to have a cateract, it is not abnormal in any way.
