Windows is actually licensed by the machine. The activation process simply sends Microsoft information about your motherboard, processor, RAM, hard drives, video card, ect. in order to prevent you from using the same copy of Windows on another machine. With that in mind, you're staying within your end user agreement by selling your copy of Windows with the machine it's registered for.

uh oh you are asking for trouble if you get rid of that computer before you get rid of your personal info on the hard drive. reformatting and reinstalling windows won't do that.

you need to use a wipe application to replace every bit on your hard drive with a zero. this app will make 7 passes to make certain all bits are done right. then you can reinstall windows.

please read this article. but know this, it can take several days to completely wipe a hard drive.

deleteing files doesn't erase them. it simply tells the processor chip it is ok to overwrite them. but the are still there until then. even then they can still be recovered if you know how. that's where the departmeny of defense wipe application comes in handy. it deletes them forever and no one can recover them.

if your computing gadget got here with XP pre-put in,forget approximately approximately it. XP activation is composed of hardware specs. In different words, that key's hooked as much as that motherboard. provide it a attempt, yet I doubt this is going to artwork.
