Look it up in a book. Geez. Better yet go online right after you read this. Type in heavyweight champions. It is amazing .......a whole list of names will pop up.

The accepted list begins with John L Sullivan who defeated Jake Kilrane. All champions stem from this but in later years confusion has arisen from the formulation of several boxing leagues each claiming their champion.
