I will be attending a family reunion at the end of June and I am so ashamed of myself. I would like to lose as much as humanly possible. Any hints or ideas for rapid maximum weight loss.

First of all no need to feel ashamed of urself. If u do it'll show and u'd look even worse!
This is a step in the right direction.
Start today.
Go low carb, i dont mean "no carbohydrates", mean lower carbs in ur diet ie. simple carbs.eg. sugar, white flour, corn flour, refined food etc.
U can have all u want of veggies, salads, lean meat and a small portion of grains.
If u really need to, have whole or multigrain bread, not white but restrict it to a slice or 2 a day, no more.
You can have low fat cheese, yoghurt and milk, in fact u must include calcium rich foods in urdiet when u want to lose weight.
Have lots of water, about 10-12 glasses a day.
Sleep at least 8 hours at night and no more than 9 hours daily.
Exercise is important, but if u are so overweight it'd be difficult initially, so just walk around more than usual, be more active generally. Use the stairs, no lifts. If possible go out for at least 15 min walk daily. Start with that and increase 5 min every week till u get to an hour daily. If u swim, thats very good, and easy at ur weight. Try water areobics, takes the weight off coz of no gravity.
Start today and dont worry about how much u lose, i assure u , u will lose very quickly initially and then taper down to a lb a week in a few month.
If lucky u could lose upto 30 lbs in next 3 months and some loss is better than none, right? And take it from me, every lb that u lose will make u feel better and it will show!

This isn't what you want to hear, but here goes anyway . . .

I would really recommend not trying any fad diets or going through any extreme measures to get the weight off. It is best to lose between one and two pounds per week, and that way it will stay off. Any other method may ultimately make you gain back what you have lost and then sometimes almost double what you lost. As well as being super unhealthy for your heart and other organs.

Start with minimal changes in diet like cutting out sodas, sugar or high-fat foods (i.e. fast foods). WATER, WATER, WATER and more WATER -- it flushes out the toxins, which could also be making you retain weight. Also, start walking about 20 minutes a day or at least three times a week to begin with. Also incorporate some weight training. Go to Walmart or Target and get a home video or DVD and some five pound weights and work your way up to a more rigorous routine. Try walking at a nearby park when possible to keep it interesting or find a buddy who will be supportive like a spouse, child or friend.

Bob Greene said on Oprah once that ten pounds equals a dress size and if you are lifting weights and lose 15, it could possibly even equal up to two dress sizes, in some cases. A good guesstimate would be 3 months = approx. 25-30 pounds= 3 dress sizes.

You did not gain 100 pounds overnight, don't expect to lose it overnight. Be consistent and the weight will come off. Also, I would recommend having a check up by your doctor to make sure you don't have any physical problems and I would also check your thyroid as well.

Your family will love you no matter what you look like, and they will be proud of you for taking the steps to become healthier. Being healthy is a life long progress -- no one can achieve maximum results in a healthy way in just three months. Good Luck!!!
