My fiance and I wanted to get married on our anniversary in September. We got excited about just being married and thought about getting married next month or something. We need to have time for our house to get finished, so we decided to go with our first choice.

We went this weekend to pick out dresses, and we all liked this really pretty green color. Problem is, this was before we changed back to September and it seems more like a color for spring.

Our wedding is actually going to be on the first day of fall. Fall colors would be more ideal. What colors do you think would look good for this time of year?

We really liked the style of the dress. It looked really good on all of them. It has a halter top and just looked really flattering. It comes in a darker purple color. If it's really pretty we might go with that. It also came in a sort of dull colored yellow and a dull colored pink.

The green still might be just fine, depending on its tone. Emerald, forest, kelly, even sage green would work for a fall wedding. And heck, out here in California we have some sort of green all year round, so if you really like the green, go for it!

The deep purple sounds pretty to me, too. You could work it in with some more earthy tones like tans (yes, that can work!) greens, even reds/oranges.

I personally think that you should choose what you and your bridesmaids like best. I attended an outdoor wedding last summer where the bridesmaids wore these simply, lovely, black dresses with a camel colored wrap. And the wedding wasn't even formal! So do what will make you happy.

You can make the green look more fall by adding browns and purples with it - maybe through your flowers or accesorries. If you loved the dresses and they look good on everyone I'd go with that. Purple is a good fall color if you like it in purple then you could easily pull that off. But if you don't like the purple I would just add some other fall colors in with the green and go with that. There are so many detailsl to handle with a wedding don't stress yourself out too much.

Your wedding does not have to match with the time of year. What makes certain colors go with certain times? As an artist I can think of a reason for any color to work any month. Green is a cool color so even though it may represent spring and new life it is also related to calm, relaxation and the cold. If you love the color and it looks good on your friends use it. There are no rules for wedding colors, use colors that represent you and your fiance.

I think you should stay away from the bright color and any type of pinks. Fall colors would be more on the darker side, the purple you mention wouldn't be to bad. Go with what you really like though. Blue is always a good any time of the year color. Good luck!

In all honesty you can go with whatever color you want for your wedding no matter what time of year it is. If you do go with fall colors, your wedding may not be as "unique" as you would like it. We got married in November and had Royal Blue dresses and it was beautiful.

If you are really sold on having a "fall theme" to your wedding I would go with the dark purple choice. A friend of mine got married in October and the dark purple really made the fall colors pop and it looked great.

Dark Blues, Reds, Oranges are appropriate fall colors anything light like you said is a spring and summer color. You should ask a consultant at the store to suggest colors appropriate for season.

Burnt orange and Ivory were mine with hints of Olive green I got married in October. We had a fall theme though and added lots of fall berries and such

But if you truly like the green that you saw get that! Its your wedding and if you 2 like that color go for it!

There is no rule that I know of that says your colors have to be season appropriate.

If you like the green. . . stick with it. With some dark yellow and dark orange floral arrangments, you could so make it work. Also about the halter top dress. Find each bridesmaid a different color shawl, one in the yellow, one in the orange. It'll really set ff your colors.

Beautifull brown (bridesmaids or maid of honor) and a really copper orange (the opposite of who you decide would wear the brown) would be great and your centerpieces could be made from leaves (all the wonderful fall colors, etc). Brown is a really great color, even if you decide on the halter gown, have the girls wear shawls or wraps. Good luck and God Bless.

You didn't mention where you live or what the climate is like in September. Here in the Chicago area, the first day of Autumn is usually very hot and summer-like. A cool green color would be lovely on such a day. If you like it, trust your instincts.

Have a lovely wedding!
