Cat claws and teeth are full of bacteria. They scratch you, bacteria gets into you and causes and infection. I always put some Neosporin (actually, the generic ripoff of it) on any scratches I get from the cats.

Given the time of year, a good liklihood is fleas. Get some Advantage or Frontline for cats ASAP. If he is scratching inside his ears, ear mites is a possibility.

Something in/under the cats nail came in contact with your skin and you are having a reaction? Get to a doctor. There is a disease called cat scratch disease...webmd it.
