Think of it- walk off and they'll hound you to death calling to find out why. Tell them it isn't going to work and you're rid of them without the wondering.

It is rude to walk off on a date in any situation.
You should at least try and get through the date. If you dont feel better about it at the end, you dont have to go out with that person again.
If the date isn't going well, and you come to the point where you absolutely feel you need to end it right then and there, you should be polite, explain that things aren't working out, and if you're the driver, offer a ride home.

I think it is rude to walk off of date. See the date through. At the end of the evening, you can politely say, "Thank you for the date" with a handshake. The handshake will probably put out the message that you're not interested in pursuing anything further. If you're a guy, don't call her again. If you're a girl, leave it at that. If the guy calls for another date, politely say, "No, thank you". No need to get nasty or too detailed.

In a way, it is quite rude to walk off on a date. A nicer way to end a date right then and there is "I think that the night is not going quite well, but I wish to thank you for dinner." Then the lad or lass will get the picture in a nicer way. ;)

Yes. Walking away is rude, extremely self-centered, and immature. Face the music.

To politely excuse oneself from a bad date, say something like "you're nice but I don't think we are a good match. Let's call it a night."

Chances are good that the other person isn't having a good time either and will agree. That way you both part on good terms and no hard feelings either way.

I went on a double date with a friend once and the guy she set me up with looked like a beaver. In other words, no chance in hell was this going to be good! On top of it, we had nothing in common. But I was polite and sat through the dinner. I thanked him politely and left. Don't walk off ever! It just makes you look bad. You won't regret being kind.

at least tell the person that their conversation has extinguished your will to live, and you feel that a parting of the ways is in order, but no kiss goodnite!

It would be more polite to just end the date quickly. I know what you mean, though. Till you get out of the situation, just daydream and try to think happy thoughts, and tune out the date.

I think it is -- you should simply change the subject to something you want to talk about -- if there is nothing left and you no longer find yourself interested in that person do yourself the favor and end the date by offering to take them home when you have finished your activity.

No, how about this , I left my prom date at the reception, and partied with my friends. Why? She was hitting on another guy.

"F" em, if they're rude or if you're wasting your time, dump 'em. You only have 1 life, live it at your terms.
