In hostage situations do cops ever use odorless sleeping gas?

what if you could put the bad guy and the victim to sleep, couldnt you just imagine that, lol.

This was tried not long ago in Moscow - over a hundred hostages were killed by the gas.

Contrary to what the movies show - there is only a small amount of difference between the amount of gas required to put somebody to sleep and the amount necessary to kill him.
