Are you dating Fred? If yes for how long? b;c he might be asking you "the question" that is if you have been dating a long time and are ready and truley commited and serious about each other. if not those factors then I don't know.

No, but why won't he ask you before dinner? Sounds suspicious, so be careful. If it's something that you don't want to do, call someone to take you home. Better than taking chances.
