I am trying to figure out if any dogs have dark markings on their teeth, and gums, or should I be concerned he got some tooth damage somewhere, and it may be decay, or teeth that are dying. Should I take him to the vet? He has had a habit of biting down on our covers, or blankets for a while now... I was thinking this may be his way of dealing with a toothache. Do some dogs just like a security blanket.... like putting something in their mouth? Is it a bad habit like sucking a thumb?

Hopefully someone has some answers for me! Thanks in advance!

What you're seeing is most likely tartar on his teeth, especially if he's an older dog. This may cause sensitivity but can be fixed with a simple teeth scaling done by the vet.

puppies within the wild additionally dont consume grain-established kibbles and tender canned puppy meals. Dogs within the wild consume uncooked meat and bones.. the act of stipping meat from the bone maintains tooth blank. What are you able to do? Find some way to avoid wasting cash to have them wiped clean. If they're that unhealthy.. there is no longer a lot you'll be able to do now with a toothbrush anyhow. The plaque will ought to be scraped off with a dental scaler, and he or she most likely has inflamed tooth that want eliminated. ADDED I dont recognise ANY vet so that it will reccommend pulling tooth, except there's a scientific rationale to take action- corresponding to illness or impacted teeth. If a vet reccommends pulling a healthful teeth, move to an additional vet!

Could be buildup on the teeth just like people get tartar buildup. I check my pack regularly for any teeth problems. They have always been on dry food/real bones and teeth look pretty clean.

Good idea to have the vet take a look and make sure before there is a real problem, if not already. Your dog can't tell you if teeth/gums are hurting!!

Sounds like your dog has a tarter buildup on his teeth, which can be bad! You should take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have any underlying gum problems ect. They may give you a special toothpaste for him and if not you can get toothpaste for dogs at a pet store...You should begin brushing your dogs teeth regularly, giving him dry dog food, and dry treats. You can also get him some dental chews.
