Because apparently an angel won't come through the door if a dog's in the house... what load of crap, I wonder if a child wrote that in the Koran.

Dog is permitted as a Pet if the purpose be 'hunting' or 'guarding' . Not to play with them. Better play with innocent human children, instead of animals. Dogs are there to be useful to humans. Put your pet dog to some useful work. Islam shall be permissive.

By even fundamentalist standards, you may keep a dog if it is for a reason...a helper dog, a guard dog, a shepherd.
Dogs are fairly dirty, and in Islam, indoor cleanliness is a must, but water use is at a premium where it was born.

The Quran does not forbid keeping animals... matter of fact some devout followers actually had a dog. Those who believe in hadiths though believe that you cannot have pets in the home.

If this is true, then why do many Muslims have dogs then? I don't think it's right having dogs as a fasion accessory or something, they should be treated well not as pets.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) made only three exceptions to the prohibition on keeping dogs: hunting, guarding livestock and guarding crops.
Some scholars are of the view that it is not permissible to keep a dog for any reason other than these three. Others are of the view that it is permissible to draw analogies between these three and similar or more likely cases, such as guarding houses, because if it is permissible to keep dogs to guard livestock and crops, it is more appropriate that it should be permissible to keep dogs to guard houses.
The saliva of the dogs carry diseases n they usually carry tape worms. great care must be taken that they do not come in contact with anything which is used by people for eating and drinking

The Prophet (peace and blessing of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for herding, hunting or farming, his reward will decrease by one qiraat every day." (Reported by Muslim, 2948)
As far as keeping a dog to guard the house is concerned, Ibn Qudaamah said: "It is not permitted, according to the most sound opinion." (al-Mawsoo’ah al-Fiqhiyyah, 35/124)
"If a dog licks the vessel of any one of you, let him throw away whatever was in it and wash it seven times." (Reported by Muslim, no. 418).

the issue is not, with what islam says about dogs.
The real issue is that some people seek islam to know whether to have a dog. Its a pity.

You are allowed but they are considered impure. Therefore, they cannot enter the room you pray in and you must wash if you touch it (if you or the dog is wet).
