Organizations like Salvation Army and the Red Cross would no longer be on the scene of that days disaster to help.

Those in need of food or clothing would be unable to turn to a soap kitchen or rescue mission for aid.

Most of the orphanges and school in underdeveloped countries would be closed, and children turned out onto the streets homeless.

The poor in most nations of the world would be left unfed to die.

The mission doctors would not be there to provide free surgery, medicine, and dental care to thousands of people in poor nations that would not survive without it.

The hospitals of most underdeveloped nations - run by the Catholic churches - would be closed.

The world would be a much poor place in the morning if Christianity were to disappear. Multitudes would probably die because of it.

Yes and no.

People wouldn't immediately have a reason to hate their neighbors who believe something different then they do, but at the same time many people, without that moral system to tell them not to steal/kill/etc., would do such things and the world would probably become a more barbaric place.

Inevitably, people would start creating new religions explaining how the world is the way it is and why people should act in good ways.

I don't know about better. But it would be different.

Along with all the negatives of organized religion (sexism, wars, etc.) come some positives (moral rules against murder, theft, etc). Also, many churches/temples are social gathering places for dinners, dances, and other events.

My guess is that it would quickly be replaced by something similar.

What an outstanding question. Interestingly enough, there is such a tomorrow. We will wake up and all religions will be destroyed. Now when you wake up and begin to see that happening, the actual destruction of religions, recall your question and the posts thereto.

The process will be slow, not overnight. But I rather it inches toward no organized religion than stay in chaos with organized religion.

No.Because the average person cannot think nor reason by himself. Religion is needed to draw boundaries or control the masses.

I'm against organized religion myself. However, I do realize its need in society.

It would be a different world.

People would still find some excuse to be stupid.

Just go look at the way some people read charts trying to buy stocks...it's meaningless, but they practice it like a religion without any evidence that it works.

The fundamental problem is that people have stupid brains, not religion. Religion is just a symptom.

No. Definitely.

Zillions of people get comfort and simple benefit from organized religion.

A small percentage of people use organized religion to do evil.

The question is no contest.

You are free to ignore religion.

If someone commits a crime in the name of religion, it's not like they would have been a wonderful person if they'd never heard of the religion.

Anything, any subject, in the hands of an extremist, in the hands of someone with wacky moral sense, can be a tool of evil.

i agree with some of the people so far

crime would go up

a big part of religion is threatening people to be good during their life, or they'll end up in Hell for eternity

if there was not threat of spending eternity in Hell...a lot of people would just do whatever they got the urge to do

the world would be much less judgemental, but not better....not even close

-in my opinion-

have a good one
and good question

Yes it would be better. However, there will still be something that we will all fight over. Whether it be land, resources, food, ethnicity, politics. However, if we are guided by logic and reason rather than a all powerful God with a blood thirsty ideal, then we won't be so anxious to crash planes into 'heathen' society's. God fuels war much greater than anything else.
