I'm going to get a new tattoo around my arm. I'm in the process of losing weight. Will losing a considerable amount of weight affect a tattoo I get on my arm? Or should I weight until I'm down to prepregnancy weight?

I have gotten rid of a significant amount of weight(104.5lbs) and I am very glad that I have not had my arms tattooed because of the amount of loose skin. I have ink from the nape of my neck to between my shoulders, my left calf, my lower back, my left butt cheek, the left side of my chest-all before I lost the weight-and none of them were affected by the weight reduction.

Not only loss of weight will affect the appearance of a tattoo, old age will devastate it, as the skin creases and loosens up.

Yeah your tattoo will become distorted. Better to wait until you're at your ideal weight. And then your tattoo will have even more meaning as a celebtration of the hot new you!

I am here to say NO! I lost 100 lbs, since June 2006 and I was scared to death that my tats would look nasty, but they all look good just as they did before.
