I think that's a bad idea, the country is divided enough without official partitions. Imagine what that would lead to.

In that statisticians have shown that per capita it is actually more dangerous to live in Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, or Washington, DC than Iraq, we need to declare those area's a quagmire and pull our troops and resources out.

Ummm... Gary B (above): you don't think the quagmire has anything to do with the Republican controlled Congress of just a short while ago (you remember: the one that let Bush lie us into Iraq...) Rather, you are going to try to blame the Democrats for the howlingly bad Republican administration and Congress? My God: they had it all and used it to kill the economy and many US soldiers. Whose side are you on anyway?

Why don't you look up the UN and see what countries are already assigned things.
It's really quite funny as a country such as Iran is in charge of peace. (or they were)

I thought you were tallking about Iraq, where it really would be a good idea.
Here, all we have to do is get rid of Karl Rove and company and watch moderate Republicans retake the party, and restore honor as well as civility to US politics.
