Well, REAL AK-47s are really, really rare here in the US.
There are plenty of SEMI-auto AK-type carbines out there.....and Very, Very few of them have ever been used to commit any crimes.
I assume by OZZYs you mean Uzi......again, same story. 98% of Uzis in the US are semi auto pistols. No more deadly that what your local police carry.
And even though hunting has no bearing on what should be legal or not, many people DO HUNT with AK-type rifles and their numbers are growing. I know some guys who regularly clear out nuisance 'yotes with scoped AKs.

What the heck is an OZZY? I have no use for an AK-47, but I don't see why people who want one shouldn't. And being an American, my ideas of law are somewhat different from yours. In the US-style political philosophy, people are generally able to be, do and have what they want, unless there's some compelling reason to the contrary, so certain people might be restricted in what they do or own, but things are, as a general rule, not banned. Automatic weapons, for instance, have been severely restricted in their ownership since the 1930's, and to date the only case of a shooting in the past half-century plus involving a legally owned automatic firearm was an off-duty policeman shooting a criminal in the commission of a felony.

Yes, (its an Uzi also) If you start outlawing one type of weapon who's to say you can't outlaw them all.
Full auto has a rightful place in being restricted, although it really doesn't make much difference. Semi-auto fire is more deadly than spray and pray if you decided to engage in violence with firearms. Full auto becomes more deadly unintentionally through rogue flying rounds.
I don't understand why .50 BMG is always under discussion or legislation to be made illegal. I would like to see evidence of a single act of homicide committed with a .50 BMG rifle by a civilian. I doubt that there is a single one. 9mm and 12 guage shotgun kill dozens upon dozens of people, yet they are not vilified the way .50 BMG is in the media.

Yes...Yes...And did I mention...Yes!
Too much propaganda is being put in the media about gun control. (To me gun control means hitting what you aim at.)
If a man walks down the street with a claw hammer has he broken a law? Nope. If he hits someone over the head ...Then he has broken a law.
I used to know a man that had an original Thompson sub-machine gun. He got the Federal background check and paid for the permit to keep it (Something like $500.).
What does he do with it?
He keeps it well oiled and takes it out every once and a while to practice with it.
I believe there ways for a collector to possess those firearms.

What is an Ozzy? Do people use Ozzy Osbourne to hunt? That would be pretty wild.

Yes, absolutely. Even though they are 'neutered' from full-auto, they are still fun and marvels of design to be admired, like Corvettes for example.
And Ozzy should be allowed to have a gun. He's really not crazy.

It's not the gun that kills, it's the person (illegally) with that gun. An AK-47 shoots a 308 just like a Remington 7400 semi-auto with a 10rd. magazine.
Cigarettes and Alcohol kill more people and the government woun't ban those.

I firmly believe in the 2nd Amendment to keep and bear arms. I think Law Abiding citizens should be able to own the firearms of their choice.
To Answer your Question, these are not hunting arms whatsoever.
If it came down to self Defense and someone was trying to come in my house, would love to have an AK-47 in my safe!!!

I do believe you mean “Uzi”
Not for hunting in any way form or style.
As to ownership sure if you wont one.
But I don’t wont or need one, people with an Uzi or AK47 don’t bother me at all.
I’m a fan of the one shot kill or death from afar, not the spray and pray operation.
To each their own.
Uzi

But if you do have a OZZY you may wont to consult you Doctor for advice on safe sex.
That my opinion.
