My cat sleeps w/me every night. i fall asleep w/him on top of me, and anytime i wake up in the middle of the night, if he isn't on top of me, he is right next to me, bodies touching. Does he do this just to be near me, or just for the warmth? Anyone elses kitty do this too?

My cats do this too! Especially my older cat, he'll cuddle up with me. It's mostly affection, he does it regardless of the weather. And when I'm not in bed he likes to lay on some worn clothing, the smellier the better! If you have cats, don't always pick up all your laundry but leave some worn shirt laying around, they'll love it!

I have three kitties, and all three have the same behavior as your cat. Personally I find it quite annoying to wake up because your having that lovely smothering feeling, and the cat is laying half over your face. *lol* They do make great alarm clocks though! I never have to worry about not waking up on time with that wet nose poking me to get up. My personal opinion is that they just like to cuddle. They cuddle each other at naptime, so why not cuddle their human when it's their naptime too? A day without a cat would be a day without sunshine :)

My Siamese cat sleeps on my hip all night, every night. Even if I push her off, she jumps right back on. I think they do it out of habit, or because they choose, as it is now 80+ degrees and I know my cat is not cold.

I think its because affection and your dominance of the cat. They understand the leaders and want to be close to them. My 10 month old calico wont ever leave me alone when im sleeping she either sleeps on my pillow or on my chest. and she will wake me up when its time to get up. and if i dont let her in the room she will cry all night to get in.

I think it's comforting to them, the warmth, the familiar scents and plus it's a good bonding thing for both of you.

yes my cats do that all the time. its usually from heat or just wanting to be near the owner and be loved

yes my two cats sleep with me, the one who gets in the bed first sleeps on me and the other one sleeps to the side.

yes, my cat sleeps with me sometimes on my chest and sometimes on my feet under the covers, I think it is just to be near me.

i usually push my cats outta the bed, hehe. but he usually goes to my parents bedroom anyway and he always sleeps on their head! i swear, he likes to sleep at the head of the bed so he's practically lying on my mom's head lol
